So I felt like some kind of retardedly delicious breakfast (I'm being generous, it was midday) today, and instantly this shakshuka recipe from Sunday Suppers sprang to mind...
I'm not going to lie, it was kind of a fail. Everytime I try to make a kind of baked eggs/tagine-y egg thing it always ends up being a bit gross. Perhaps it is just that I don't like it? Or maybe I'm doing something wrong... I do have an inability to follow recipes accurately.
But I will tell you the overall breakfast experience was delicious. I sent my dad out to get some delicious bread and I also made a kind of Nigella-inspired crushed chick pea hommous-y business, which was awesome.
The shakshuka recipe is over here. Give it a go...
My delicious Nigella-inspired chick peas basically goes:
1. Drain a can of chick peas.
2. Mash those bitches up and add lemon juice, garlic, salt and olive oil until is it tasty.
3. Consume with vigour.
I feel like this is a breakthrough - lately I have been working on making myself enjoy foods that, as a pescetarian I really should be all over, but kind of aren't. Basically I have been forcing myself to eat a lot of mushrooms and pulses.
Word.
